PAVILION

The first design assignment I was presented with, in the Bachelor of Interior Design was that of the pavilion. We were given an empty box with specific dimensions in which we had to set up a pavilion for a certain function, namely 'relaxation' or 'contemplation'. I chose 'relaxation'.

In the pavilion we were only allowed to use the specified rectangles. The rectangles all had a size that we were not allowed to deviate from. Putting it in the box, or by cutting it out, would allow us to organize the pavilion. We could only use the rectangles once to add it or to cut it out of the box.

For me, 'relaxing' is being able to talk with some friends or go on a walk. That's why I tried to make a pathway in the pavilion. I connected the 4 entrances together and around the path I provide seating area. The intersection functions as a meeting place where you can run into people. After this you can easily sit (or lie down) on one of the seating elements to catch up.
