LOFT, CAMPUS BIJLOKE - GHENT

For the project of the Loft, we were asked to design a loft in one of our workplaces on campus. The profile of the clients were given and I will list it here below;

  • a family of 4 (husband, wife and two kids)

  • the woman collects art

  • the man is a graphic designer and sometimes works from home.

This means the husband will need a large working space. The woman requires room on the wall for potential paintings and room on the floor for a statue or similar.

I worked with a shape in the centre that houses two bedrooms, a little bathroom and a pantry at the ground level. The first floor is for the parents and includes a master bedroom and bathroom.

The windowsills are integrated in the woodwork of the floor and can be used as a desk for children to do their homework.  The Kitchen is also intertwined with the flooring. By using a low, glass stripe at the stove, I created a splash wall and a visual barrier between the kitchen cabinets and the walkway.

Note: The renderings are altered in the meantime but the floorplans and sections are original.
